Dinner and a Science Fiction Classic at the Columns Returns on May 13th!
The Pike County Historical Society and Museum will cue the projector, once again, on Wednesday May 13th to show the cult classic "X: The Man with X-ray Eyes". This beauty of a science fiction movie stars Ray Milland and....Don Rickles! The film was produced and directed by none other than the B movie master, Roger Corman, in 1963. (It's in color!)
The story follows the scientific exploits of Dr. James Xavier as he develops eye drops that increase the range of human vision. Not happy with the data gleaned from testing the drops on animals, Xavier tests the drops on himself. Uh-Oh! Initially, Xavier, or "X", discovers that he can see through people's clothing, and he uses his vision to save a young girl whose medical problem was misdiagnosed. Over time and with continued use of the drops, Xavier's visual capacity increases but his ability to control it decreases. Eventually, he can see the world only in forms of light and texture that his brain is unable to fully comprehend. Even closing his eyes brings no relief, as he can see through his closed eyelids. This pesky condition only causes him trouble, but you'll have to join us to find out more!
Tickets are $40 and include dinner, movie, dessert, coffee and lots of laughs! Tickets for Museum members are $35 and can be purchased by calling 570-296-8126. The event starts at 5pm in the Foundation Room of the Museum.
