President Lincoln's Assassination Remembered
On Sunday, April 12, 2026, the Pike County Historical Society and Museum will present *Thinking Inside the Box*, a one-woman play starring Patricia Durante. The production tells the stories of three women—Laura Keene, Mary Todd Lincoln, and Clara Harris—who witnessed President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and share their reflections on the tragedy. First performed years ago, the play has appeared at venues like the Women’s Theater of Parsippany, the University of Scranton, and on a South Jersey tour that included The Celebrity Theater at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City. Written by Lori Strelecki, this unique performance blends sadness, humor, and intrigue, as characters seamlessly transform without leaving the stage. Durante captivates from the first lines, guiding the audience through an emotional journey. Tickets are $30, including a wine and cheese reception in the museum’s main hall, where visitors can view the blood stained Lincoln Flag after the show. Museum members pay $25, and reservations are available online or by calling 570-296-8126.
